HVAC Tech Tip: Adding products to the QPL

May 20, 2019 | Trade Ally Network NW

BPA’s qualified product lists (QPL) exist to make your life as an HVAC contractor easier. Whether you’re looking for an advanced rooftop unit controls package or a connected thermostat, QPLs take pressure off you, the customer and your local utility to make sure that a selected product meets our minimum standard.

Products that meet our energy efficiency standards also qualify for incentives, which helps your customers save money and reduce the overall cost of the project. QPLs allow you and your customer to be confident that the product to be purchased has the required features to achieve energy savings.

We want to make sure that any qualifying product you install is on a QPL, but we need your help to make this happen. If you see a product that isn’t on a QPL, but you think it should be, follow these easy steps:

  1. Check the product’s pre- and post-installation conditions posted on our website. If the product meets those requirements, it is likely eligible.
  2. Contact your regional field specialist with the manufacturer and product information. They’ll reach out to the manufacturer and walk them through the process to add products to the list. If the product meets our qualifications and passes internal review, it can be added in as little as two or three weeks.

Together with BPA, our field specialists make it a priority to stay up-to-date on changes in the technology and new products. We welcome your help to make the list robust and relevant, and to help you improve product selection for your next project.

Current QPLs are available for ductless heat pumps, advanced roof top unit controls and connected thermostats. For more information, contact your regional field specialist.
